The Original Spoilerific: Behind-the-Scenes Spy Shots From ‘Return of the Jedi’
In the world of today, mostly thanks to the accessibility of the internet and digital technology, you can find spy photos from film sets all over the world no matter how “secretive” the production is. Just look at all the stuff coming out of The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers; if those movies were made pre-internet, almost no one would see all the photos and videos we have.
That’s what makes these shots from the production of Return of the Jedi so cool; it’s a situation where spy photos involved actual spying. Because there was no internet, it wouldn’t be widely known that “Blue Harvest” was the codename for Return of the Jedi during filming. All people in the area knew was that it was a sci-fi film, and they decided to investigate it for fun. They hit pay dirt. Hit the jump for some of these awesome photos and head over to The Prop Store to see the rest of the shots and read the full story, which is utterly riveting.
I gotta give it up to these guys, they braved the desert heat and set security to bring these shots home. Now they’re finally published in a public forum, and we can share them with you. Enjoy.
