Geek Treats: These Blood Suckers Will Have Vamps Lining Up at Your Door!

Welcome back to another edition of Geek Treats here on Nerdeux, where we show you how to prepare deliciously dorky treats from all over the web! This week we’ll be making some candy you can really sink your fangs into. So grab your “Bite Me” apron and hit the jump for all the bloody details.

Tonight brings us the Season 3 Premier of the Vampire Diaries and I can not wait! If you are having a theme party tonight or looking for something fun to spice up your Halloween party, these are just the thing. The best part is they are cheap and easy to make! Now, stop daydreaming about Damon and let’s gather our ingredients:

  • 1/3 Cup of Corn Syrup
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Lollipop Mold
  • A package of 4″ Lollipop Sticks
In a small saucepan, bring the Corn Syrup and Sugar to a boil, making sure to stir until all the sugar is dissolved. You’ll want to boil the mixture for about 5 minutes or so.

While that’s heating up, get your tray, sticks and food coloring ready to go.

When the mixture is ready, pour it into the mold. Don’t overfill! It may look like you don’t have enough, but it tends to expand a little. Let it sit for about a minute. DO NOT try to slide the sticks into the mixture, it’ll mess it up! What you want to do is press the lollipop sticks into the circles and then gently twist them.

Now for the fun part – take your red food coloring (be careful, it can stain big time) and add 1 drop to each circle. Using an extra stick or toothpick, swirl it around to make blood splatter. Be careful with the food coloring as it can stain.

They only need to sit for about 10-15 mins to be fully hardened. Enjoy and be sure to check back next week for more play-with-your-food fun! :[

For the future, if you want to add flavors, I suggest checking out LorAnn Oils, where you can find just about any oil flavor you can think of at decent prices.

Don’t Drac and his pals look happy with their treat?
