First Images From ‘The Dark Knight Returns’
For those unaware, while Marvel may have DC beat when it comes to live action features, DC has been putting out some of the best animated superhero movies ever in the last few years. This is usually accomplished by adapting some infamous storylines, such as last year’s Batman: Year One. For their next animated outing, DC will once again be adapting a work by Frank Miller: The Dark Knight Returns. Split into two films, they plan to tell the entire four-part story of what is popularly dubbed “the final Batman story” with Part 1 releasing later this year. Hit the jump to see some images from the film and get some more details.
I saw a teaser trailer for this at Wondercon earlier this year, and I have to say what I saw looks phenomenal. There’s definitely a lot of Miller’s art style influencing the animation, and it pays off in spades as the film adapts some of the iconic panels from the book. Check out a few shots below:
Can’t wait. The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 hits stores this Fall, with Part 2 releasing sometime early next year.
