A Slew of New Concept Art and Screenshots For ‘FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn’ Straight From Gamescom

With Gamescom currently going on, and prior hints that a lot of new content would be coming out of the event, we finally have some new concept art and screenshots for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn from Square. Hit the jump to check it out!

First up we’ve got some lovely concept art:

Right off the bat we can see that the sheer variance and detail of the new zones is absolutely staggering, especially when you look at the current game. Instead of three flavors of forest, desert, and plains, we get what appear to be actual thought out worlds; they just simply breathe FINAL FANTASY. Cannot wait for that.

Next up, some new screenshots of the new engine! As far as I can tell from experience, they appear to be running the engine at Gamescom at medium settings, so keep that in mind when nitpicking minor graphical details (or I could be wrong and it is maximum settings, and they need to tweak some stuff):

Couple new zones in there, and it looks like Chocobos will be getting limited flight capabilities (extended jump, most likely). All in all, I’m very pleased by what they’ve decided to show us and can’t wait for the actual gameplay trailer (or the alpha test).

What do you think? Sound off in the comments (no one uses them, get to it)!
