Check Out the First Shots of the New Turtles in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’
I have to admit, I have been so uneasy about Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ever since its announcement. The man didn’t do much to ease our terror either, with early announcements naming the film as simply Ninja Turtles and altering their origin to be space aliens that happen to look like turtles. Bay himself was quick to reign in these concepts after the fan backlash and the film went back into quiet pre-production. Now we have a better look at what to expect when the film drops this year, and I’m guardedly optimistic. Hit the jump to check out some photos.
The turtles definitely look a lot more beefed up that we’re used to seeing, and the models of them look great. Also surprisingly great is their Shredder design; a lot of fans, myself included, got very uneasy when they announced William Fichtner to play the turtles’ nemesis.
What confuses me a bit is the supposed poster at a toy fair in London. It refers to the film as Ninja Turtles and the turtles themselves look a bit different to the models in it. I’m hoping it’s extremely old promotional art (as the title would indicate), because if it isn’t, well…I’m not sure how I feel about giving ever turtle accessories. It feels very unnecessary. We’ll have to see once some official photos or a trailer drop!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theaters on August 8th, 2014
