Editor’s Note: This was originally posted last year for the 2011 SDCC, but the information and tips still apply so we figured it’d be appropriate to do a re-post with an updated list!
It’s time. This week, hundreds of thousands of nerds descend upon sunny San Diego, California for their yearly pilgrimage to the Geek Vatican, the San Diego Comic-Con. There really is no other event quite like it, and it can always be a bit overwhelming for the first-time attendee. But have faith, as we here at Nerdeux are committed to getting you the best Comic-Con experience as possible and have written up a handy guide that will hopefully lower your stress levels and make the whole process more enjoyable. Hit the jump to begin!
Hey, want to watch a bunch of Assassin’s Creed cosplayers dance horribly at the Just Dance 3 booth during New York Comic Con 2011? Of course you do. Check it out above.
P.S. You’d think master assassins would have crisper moves.
One of my favorite moments of Comic-Con 2010 was when every single one of the Avengers assembled on stage for the first time. Now they may not have had a panel this year, but Marvel’s flagship team did assemble again in art form. Over the weekend at the Marvel booth at Comic-Con 2011 mini posters featuring a different Avenger were handed out, showcasing each member in their film costume for the first time. The best part? Put them all together and they form a nice, long display. I’ve personally gotten the S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America, and Thor and I’ll be looking to eBay for the rest because I want to frame the full version. Check out the individual posters and full art after the jump.
Speaking of Comic-Con, one of my favorite events to attend there every year is the premiere of DC’s latest animated feature. This year they’re debuting Batman: Year One, based on the book by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli, and it looks phenomenal. If that wasn’t good enough, apparently the premiere will be preceded by a Catwoman short starring Eliza Dushku, and will also be included on the DVD release. I cannot wait until I see this, though there are a few other shorts I might want first (for example, a Zatanna short would be AWESOME.) What other shorts would you want to see? Leave ideas in the comments.
Batman: Year One is on sale on DVD and Blu-Ray October 18th, 2011
The San Diego Comic-Con is just a few weeks away now, which means excitement is ramping up. One of the most exciting parts of this time is when they FINALLY start to release the Programming schedule. Thursday’s went live today, and there’s actually some pretty awesome stuff in it, so head over to the official site to get yours done now!
The internet was all aflutter last week when a New York Times article was published stating that many of the major film studios including Disney, Warner Bros., and Dreamworks are planning on pulling out of the San Diego Comic-Con this year, and even specifies that Marvel is considering not showing up with a large panel as well. According to the article studios are attempting to change their marketing model as far as the convention is concerned, trying to schedule their time and money more appropriately. What brought on this change?
