DC Comics’ Solicits For July 2012 (and Their Awesome Covers)

It’s odd, but I love it when DC puts out solicits for their upcoming titles far in advance; usually because this is when the upcoming covers get debuted. That’s really the main reason for posting the solicits on here, I just want to show off some sick covers. One of the awesome revelations to come from this? As you can see in the preview above, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau is back on covers forBatgirl! I loved his Stephanie Brown covers, and his covers for Babs look stellar as well. Anyhoo, hit the jump to get a first look at everything coming from DC Comics in July!

Web Roundup: Nostalgia Lane, 20 Free 3DS Games, and 20 Reasons to Stay Out of the Water

Click above for ...well pretty self-explanatory, isn't it?

I’m just going to come out and say it: my biggest phobia is deep sea life. There are some things down there that are just plain WRONG and there is no scientific or religious reason for their existence. Want a reason to stay out of the ocean forever? Go look at photos of crap dragged off the bottom of the ocean by tsunamis and try to sleep tonight. Fortunately, the goodly folks over at Heavy seem to share my phobia, and have compiled a list of 20 MORE reasons to stay out of the friggin’ water.

Web Roundup: A Link to the Portal, More Captain America Photos, and Huntress Returns to the DC Universe

Click above for a look at the second wave of DC Relaunch titles.

It looks like the DC Relaunch is going to attempt to keep its breakneck pace in October, releasing some more new series along with Issue #2s of the new series releasing in September. One new miniseries that I’m happy to see is Huntress #1. I was worried it’d take a while to get to her in the timeline, as she’s one of my favorite of the Gotham heroines, but it looks like DC is going to bring her right out of the gate. According to some hints on Twitter, we have Gail Simone to thank for that, even though she isn’t writing the title, so big props to her. Head over to Comics Alliance to see the full breakdown.

Web Roundup: Final Harry Potter Cast Photo, Comic-Con Map, and DC Supervillain Team-Ups

Click above to see why a DC supervillain team-up movie could rival The Avengers.

Let’s face it, we all know Justice League will probably never achieve the anticipated success of The Avengers. But the folks over at io9 have a point: a DC supervillain team-up movie could be the perfect compliment to Marvel’s flagship. I already knew that there was work on a Green Arrow movie focusing more on the supervillains, and I knew what it was about. But I thought it had been canceled because Sony stole the idea and replaced Green Arrow with a security guard? But that’s just my musing. Apparently there is also talk of a Suicide Squad film being in development, which I would be all over. Head over to io9 to read the full piece now.
