‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Set Photos: Full Costumed Bane

Looks like the folks over at Batman News got themselves a couple of set photos from the recent Dark Knight Rises shoot in Pittsburgh, which provide us with a first look at Tom Hardy in full costume as Bane. You know what? It’s no luchador getup, but I dig it. Hit the jump for the full set.

The Rogues Gallery: The Umbrella Academy

Welcome to The Rogues Gallery, where we feature some of our favorite official and fan art of a different character every week. We’ll try to provide the artist name and link to their respective sites whenever possible. To keep things fair, we’ll be alternating the focus of each gallery. One week will be DC, the next Marvel, the next Dark Horse, followed by a specific cult film property, followed by a TV show, then repeat. This week we’re taking a look at a newer, but still amazingly awesome, and one of my personal favorites from Dark Horse: The Umbrella Academy. Hit the jump for more.

The Rogues Gallery: Captain America

Welcome to The Rogues Gallery, where we feature some of our favorite official and fan art of a different character every week. We’ll try to provide the artist name and link to their respective sites whenever possible. To keep things fair, we’ll be alternating the focus of each gallery. One week will be DC, the next Marvel, the next Dark Horse, followed by a specific cult film property, followed by a TV show, then repeat. This was SUPPOSED to go up the Saturday of Comic-Con to coincide with the release of Captain America: The First Avenger, but I seemed to have scheduled the auto-post wrong. Oh well, this just means you get a double dose of Rogues this week. Check out our Gallery o’Cap after the jump!

Web Roundup: Nostalgia Lane, 20 Free 3DS Games, and 20 Reasons to Stay Out of the Water

Click above for ...well pretty self-explanatory, isn't it?

I’m just going to come out and say it: my biggest phobia is deep sea life. There are some things down there that are just plain WRONG and there is no scientific or religious reason for their existence. Want a reason to stay out of the ocean forever? Go look at photos of crap dragged off the bottom of the ocean by tsunamis and try to sleep tonight. Fortunately, the goodly folks over at Heavy seem to share my phobia, and have compiled a list of 20 MORE reasons to stay out of the friggin’ water.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter, and retweet the hell out of us if you feel generous enough to.

The Commercial for ‘The Avengers’ Teaser

As many are aware the post-credits scene for Captain America features our first look at the full Avengers roster in a short, yet still fairly awesome, teaser. Today, Marvel has released a sort of commercial for the teaser itself, mashing up a much shorter version of the trailer with the ending of Captain America. The other perk of having this trailer up is we can get some screengrabs of everyone, well, assembled. Check those out after the jump, and enjoy the video above.

Let’s Hope the Folks In Charge of the DC Relaunch Don’t Spot This

…because you know they might be crazy enough to steal the concept:

“Hmm…we need to drastically alter our beloved characters!”
“LET’S GIVE FLASH A SEGWAY.”
“BRILLIANT!”

In other news, I’m sure someone has already slapped a “haters gonna hate” caption on this. It’s certainly fitting.

The Animated ‘Tron: Uprising’ Teaser

You know this was one of those projects that I immediately forgot was underway shortly after it was announced. Now that I’m reminded the project exists, I’m getting slightly excited for it. It seems like the perfect way to continue the new ‘Tron’ mythos, which is full of all sorts of storytelling opportunities, without having to rely on a big budget feature. This teaser, which debuted at Comic-Con last week, is a nice little look at the future of the show, which will premiere on Disney XD next summer. Check it out.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Teaser Trailer

I know everyone and their mom already saw this on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II last week, but the official teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is online in HD courtesy of Warner Bros.

A lot of people knock this trailer for recycling footage and barely showing anything but it’s a TEASER, people. On another note, anyone who doesn’t find Gordon’s “we were in this together…and then you were gone.” line and delivery heartbreaking officially has no humanity.

About the shot at the end of Bane stalking towards a beaten Batman? With the prisoners chanting “mata mata Bane Bane” (kill kill Bane Bane), and that shot, it would seem like we’re going to get a sort of Knightfall scenario. Check out the awesome above.
