Man, I don’t know how I missed these at NYCC this year but color me depressed that I did. Artist Phillip Sevy takes arguably the two most famous families in comics, the Bat-family and the X-Men, and lets them get their hipster on in two of his latest pieces, complete with Instagram filter. Hit the jump to check them out.

Nerdeux Reader Appreciation: Win an ‘X-Men: First Class’ Movie Poster!

September 9, 2011 5 comments

UPDATE: to make it more of a competition, the contest is being extended to September 16th. Get to entering, and share the contest everywhere!

We’ve been growing quite a bit since opening two months ago and that’s in no small part to you, the readers out there. Yesterday we didn’t just break our previous hit record, we smashed it into a whole new category and cracked a hit barrier we haven’t been able to even reach yet.

So, we here all felt it was a good excuse to give back to the readers. Seeing as how X-Men: First Class comes out on DVD and Blu-ray this Friday, September 9th, we’re giving away an actual, legitimate film poster for the movie. It’s never been hung, it’s just sat rolled up in a nice and sturdy shipping tube since the film’s release. If this giveaway goes well, we might give out even more cool stuff in the future.

Hit the jump to find out how to win!

Extended Scene From ‘X-Men: First Class’ Blu-ray Reveals Shaw’s Goals

September 1, 2011 Leave a comment

It may have its haters (I work with a few of them), but I loved what Matthew Vaughn did with X-Men: First Class. As such I’m really glad they aren’t skimping on features for the upcoming blu-ray release, with tons of behind the scenes documentaries, deleted scenes, and extended clips like the one above brought exclusively to the interwebs by Slashfilm. It’s an extension of the scene where Xavier probes Emma Frost’s mind and shows the full extend of Sebastian Shaw’s plans for the world. Check it out above.

‘Old Man Logan’ Fan-Made Trailer is Far Better Than ‘Wolverine’

This is what we should have gotten instead of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. X2 already HAD his origin story. Instead of focusing on all the X-Men origin stories, why don’t they try adapting some storylines directly? Don’t get me wrong, I loved First Class, but this would have been so much cooler to get. This fan-made teaser trailer was made by WhiplashDynamo on YouTube and actually promoted by the writer of the book, Mark Millar, who obviously wants to see it happen. Let’s hope someone in the industry picks up on the idea.
